Interviewing Lisa Briskie

Why do you like being part of the Medelia Monitor community of women?

Having an opportunity to voice my opinion and know that it is reaching people who can use ideas and suggestions to improve products and services is great. I also appreciate the links to organizations and companies geared toward women.

What are your passions?

My number one passion is my family, second is my love of travel and third is my writing.

What is your new book about?

The Deal is a riveting and intriguing novel based on the lives of powerful, wealthy professionals in the midst of a high-stake, high profile real estate transaction. Jaclyn Tate, a beautiful, independent and successful real estate professional and Steven Cason, a self-made real estate mogul, have opposing interests in the most important deal of their respective careers. Identities unbeknownst to them at the time, they become involved in a fast paced, infatuation-driven intimate encounter. The mystery of their identities continues while both are embroiled in their work, each trying desperately in a short timeframe to remove the contract contingencies and make it to the closing table. Twisting and turning, the plot takes us through the frantic efforts of each character trying desperately to gain a piece of the deal.

How did you manage to write your book and balance your family/kids needs?

Writing my book has been a project that has taken me many years to complete. I combined a career in international business with a passion for writing while raising two daughters. As with most professional women, finding the right balance was a great challenge. If I had to say what made it work for me was first, having an extremely supportive and understanding spouse, and then second, being 100% present in whatever role I was filling at the time. For example, when I was home, my family had my complete and undivided attention. I am a firm believer in quality versus quantity.
